Tsk tsk!

I've been so bad keeping up with my sketch of the day crap! I'm sorry! Lol but I know nobody's as disappointed in myself as I am XD
The last few days I've been trying to get back on track. I still don't think I'll be uploading all my sketches though! There are just so many that are really not great. Kind of defeats the purpose of a blog really! D:

Since March 19th, I have missed sixteen days of sketches. I'm awful! I'll have to do something big to redeem myself... not to anyone else but me, really XD I was thinking a picture with one figure for each day I missed but sixteen seems a little daunting. I didn't think it was that much till I counted, really! XD

Anyways, I saw Lady Gaga's Monster Ball tour on monday night. SO amazing! It was even better than I thought it would be. She is such an amazing and talented performer.
My sketch from yesterday was inspired from the set and costumes when she performed "Monster".



Not amazing, and one of the guys in the bg looks like he's on the toilet, but I think I'm going to work with the concept for a larger drawing maybe...

I have some other things I could probably upload, but I'm just going to hold off for a while... we'll see =P

Also, I've been mildly obsessed with tumblr lately. If anyone's interested mine's right here!.

I'm so bad at drawing every day lately. I just wasn't inspired for a while. But with spring really here now I think I'm inspired again!

Anyways, I'm thinking of maybe not posting all my sketches anymore... maybe just the more interesting ones? There's a lot of shit. But then I'm worried I"ll lose my motivation. Although looking at some of my recent sketches it doesn't really seem to make a difference.

I'm going to try and buy some markers soon and get back into those quickie fashion illustration type things.... so fun to do. I'm currently reading a biography of Isabella Blow (written by her husband) and it's just soo interesting. So much mention of armor-y clothes, so I got a little inspired. Not that you can really tell since it's pretty much just a doodle.

Oh well! I'll upload a few sketches soon but I don't think I'll be posting all off them anymore.


Still waiting to hear back if I got into university or not.

WIPs

I haven't updated in a while, so I will be posting some WIPs! Well really one. I haven't been working on a whole lot the last week. I've been soo busy!

I've been working on a Buffy fanart for a while. I started with a sort of shitty idea and it wasn't turning out too well (see the below picture). I probably had that going on and off for about three months and finally decided to just scrap it.



I started the newest one a couple of weeks ago. I think it's turning out a lot better. It still doesn't really look exactly like Sarah Michelle Gellar's face, but it's the closest I've got so far! I feel pretty good about it right now, for my skill level at least. Not to say I'm not trying to push myself! I hope to have it done by the end of the week.

Watched Memoirs of a Geisha that day and created this horrible sketch. A sad coincidence, while I was watching the movie I kept thinking how gorgeous the scenery was and how much I want to visit Japan one day. Of course with no idea what would happen the next day! It's hard to believe the devastation that can happen in a matter of hours.

Actually today's is a character I'm sort of working with for a story I'm thinking about (...?). I'd like to make the character more interesting looking though!

I'm feeling so jittery right now from all the coffee I've been drinking that my hands are shaking! XD maybe cut back on the coffee??

Oh No!

I finally missed a day! :O Last saturday, february 26th! I knew I would too, which is the worst part XD I could have drawn earlier in the day to make up for it but I forgot. I'm starting to get into the habit of drawing and painting earlier in the day, before I have the chance to feel lazy. I think it's working!

To make up for the missed day, I did two sketches on the 27th. But first my little doodle from the 25th.


I guess I just wanted to burn peoples' eyes with my colours!

I remember when I tried to do one sketch per day a few years ago and I'd force myself to draw a girl one day, a guy the next, just because I'm so prone to drawing women. They are just sooo much easier to draw for some reason! Anyways, I guess I've thrown that out the window now.

My second 'sketch' is really a speedpaint. A landscape! I know! The inspiration just came to me!
How many years it'll be, I wonder, until my next landscape. I wouldn't even call this a proper landscape. More like an abstract something.



February 28th was the day after the Oscars, I thought I'd do evening gowns.



Nothing special for March 1st.


I also did a sketch of a wizard because there was a Lord of the Rings category on Jeopardy XD

Yesterday's sketch was Helena Bonham Carter, referenced from a picture in W magazine. I love her! This was so fun to do.



And lastly is a quick charcoal sketch from this morning. The actual drawing is 14x17. I don't know why I did it so big, and not on just a regular piece of paper!

Online shopping

I feel as if I should update this more often. Maybe write a little about me?
Today I'd like to talk about my online shopping problems!
I seem to go through phases. Usually I'll browse online fairly regularly, just admiring... window shopping, I guess. But then bam, I start buying stuff! Not good when you're trying to save up for a trip to England (that'll be another post)!

I bought to slightly expensive shirts the other day. It's just so nice being able to afford stuff that used to be out of my price range. Well, I mean, I can sort of afford it. I might regret it when I'm in London, wearing my nice new shirt but not having any money XD
I'll probably be excited all over again when they arrive!

Anyways, next day one of my other favourite sites, modcloth, is having mega sales. Unfortunately, never having ordered from there before, I never realized they ship through ups without pre-paid duties & taxes... so they get to your door and have to ask for more money. Such a hassle! I love ordering from Etsy, where most of the sellers use the good ol' post office... there's one right around the corner from my house, so if I'm not home during the day I can just pop over to pick it up. I once ordered something via purolator, and after missing the delivery man I had to go about 30 minutes into the wilderness to pick it up.

Anyways, other obsessions of mine these days that don't cost me a fortune are How I Met Your Mother and Buffy. I went through the dvds of season four in about three weeks? XD I love how watching it just gives me so many 90s flashbacks. Some shows I sort of remember from when they originally aired and I was like nine or ten (like the musical episode), others are just hilarious with the fashion. Platform shoes! Spaghetti straps! Chokers! I remember them all!
Anyways, Buffy was the subject of my sketch yesterday. I'm working on it again today, and the resemblance is more present now. It's hardly there in yesterday's version!



I'll close with my most recent image. I'm not overly fond of it. I got what I wanted with the face, but the hair was just so horrible and so frustrating that I pretty much just let it be.
