Jan. 20-23

I saw True Grit today. It was actually pretty awesome for a western! Very well done, but soo diferent from what the commercials make it out to be. There were a few groups of teenage boys in the theater that were probably hoping for a different kind of movie.

Anyways, that leads me to today's sketch.



The girl is so amazingly talented. I can't believe she's so young! I was also super impressed with Jeff Bridges... and pretty much everyone else in the movie XD
As you can see I totally failed at trying to draw him in back there.

Just experimenting with some new charcoal on a different kind of paper. Inspired by an Oscar de le Renta dress... epic fail at fashion illustration.

My dad was watching an old movie so I took some inspiration from a dress the woman was wearing.

I really rushed this one, mostly because it was late when I remembered I hadn't sketched all day XD
The inspiration from his pants were from boys I keep seeing wearing pants that hang down below their asses, but are tight on their skinny legs. I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

I'll get to work on some real art and for now try to figure out what to do about my portfolio! The deadline is only about a month away! Agggh so stressful!

Drawing Challenge... first entry!

My biggest problem when it comes to updating sketch blogs is... scanning in all the new artwork! I should have everything up till today's (or tomorrow's) sketch(es) up tomorrow. For now I have my daily sketches from January 1st to 5th.
I usually do way more than one each day after I get on a roll, but for now I'm just choosing the best/most complete ones for each day XD

Lol I forget if I left the date on there. If so, it says 2010... I always have this problem at the beginning of the year!



My first observational drawing in a looong time. So it's not too good.... I wish I would force myself to do observational drawing more often. It's such a great way to learn and improve.



LOL I was really tired after work and just did these doodles and called it a day.



I'd just watched Fantasia a day or two before drawing this. It's supposed to be the big demon from the last piece.... I forgot how amazing that movie is!! Unfortunately this didn't come out as planned... wish I'd used charcoal or something.



The last sketch for today; from one week ago. I wanted to fool around with willow charcoal. It was looking pretty good till I started on the hair...

Hey everyone! This is my brand new sketch blog! Since I rarely have the attention span to complete a "real" piece these days, I've created this blog to share all the sketches I create in between. I'm also trying to challenge myself to do at least one sketch per day... which isn't really a challenge for most people, but whatevs.

I'm planning to post all of them right here! Logic being that if I know they're going to be shared, I won't try to just do a piece of shit doodle for the day.

Anyways, I'll begin uploading them any day now, when I've got a few interesting ones already XD I hope I'll have the attention span to post on a fairly regular basis... I doubt it'll be a daily sort of thing, but maybe a weekly basis.

Anyways, to start off just some sketches from the past little while I haven't shared yet.

These are just a few character designs I've been fooling around with for the last little while. I'll try to do some more refined sketches of them soon.



This was my only 'christmas picture' this year (no festive santa like last year). It was semi-inspired by John Galliano's spring 2011 collection. But only sort of XD



This is a coat I was looking for this year until it got cold out and I gave up :( Why does nobody make anything colourful anymore? I'm probably just not looking in the right places. They don't sell everything at h&m.

Anyways, I'll get some sketches up before the end of the week~~!
